Masters of Arts in Malayalam or better known as M.A in Malayalam is a postgraduate degree program that is typically based on language specialization and is handled by Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Kalady. The duration of this program is two years and is separated into four semesters. The course is more well known in Kerala due to its the mother tongue of that region. In this course, the students learn more about language and literature, grammar, history, origin, and its literary importance. Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit shall consist of a curriculum with subjects such as Ancient and Medieval Literature, Pattu Manipravala / Ezhuthachan, Modern Literature I, Kunchan Nambiar / Attakkatha, The Culture of Kerala, Romantic Poetry, Linguistics, Historic Novel, Influence of Nationalism in Malayalam Literature, Short Story, Kerala Culture, Before Kollam Era, Linguistic and Literary Studies, Scientific Kerala Lexicology, Performing Arts of Kerala Translation skills, Modernization of Kerala, Comparative Dravidian, Modern Literature II, Modern Poetry, Grammar, Media and Literature, Literary Theories, Narratology, Subsidiary Language, Manuscriptology, Literary Criticism, Grammatical Theories, Language Planning, Dramatic Theories, History of Malayalam Language, and Comparative Literature. The students after accomplishing the studies can work in leading job profiles such as School Teachers, Language Tutors, Translators, Columnists, Writers, Elocutionists, etc.
