Vision
Our vision is to focus on all round development of nursing students & empowering nursing profession through an integrated education, holistic health care services and clinical research.
Mission
The mission of the college is to develop dedicated, committed, and service minded nursing community with a passion for excellence in every field of their endeavor. And also to equip the graduates with exemplary and innovative education, practice, research, and leadership. Attaining these attributes, the graduates become the change agent for improving health of populations locally, nationally, globally.
Principal's Message
It was a humble beginning with a small batch of 20 young girls for general nursing and midwifery course in 1982 in the borrowed space in the Choithram Montessori school building, and today Choithram College of Nursing is being considered a ‘center of excellence’ among the nursing fraternity in the country.
Over the years we went on adding new courses and new dimensions to the existing educational programs. In 1996 B.Sc. nursing was started and in 2005 M.Sc. nursing in five specialties was initiated. Diploma (GNM) program was stopped after establishing degree program, in phased manner in 1999. Three clinical specialization diploma courses affiliated by INC recognized by Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council have been stated.
The PhD in nursing, the highest degree started in the year 2014 with 06 seats. Ph.D. program affiliated to Devi Ahilya university.
Nursing is a career that is both challenging as well as rewarding. This wonderful profession encompasses caring, compassion, humanity, scientific basis, organizational savvy, capacity to manage complex situations and much more. To select prospective candidates for this challenging profession we are mainly concerned about their suitability. Therefore, personality testing prior to admission for basic nursing program is useful to facilitate selection of more emotionally stable individuals. Nursing students undergo an intensive training for taking care of patients. Almost every patient has a heightened emotional element in the illness. Much unpleasantness and emotional outburst of a patient or his relative can be eliminated or controlled by emotionally balanced nurses, because properly balanced and emotionally stable persons are reasonably happy and make others also happy. Integrated personality is one of the important criteria for selection of prospective candidates who will become effective and competent nurses in future. Nevertheless, the students are further helped to develop the qualities of emotional stability during their training through Yoga and personality development sessions.
Once selected the students become part of the big Choithram family where all their physical, emotional and academic needs are carefully met in order to nurture them holistically. In students, we recognize the uniqueness and diversity of each person. They are respected, protected and also given opportunities for self determination and self-expression with confidence and dignity.
When we look back, we are filled with nostalgia and pride. Our students are placed in reputed health care and educational institutions in India and abroad, enjoying successful careers in nursing. Feedback from them gives us tremendous satisfaction. We hope we will continue to make ‘our best better’ in the days to come producing not just excellent nurses but women with substance.
Facility
Library
Library is the heart of an educational institute. It is where the students and faculty find answers to their questions. It is the place where the academicians quench their thirst for information and knowledge. The library is the place where a research scholar spends hours to find relevant literature to form basis for his/her enquiry and a young student finds interesting stories to divert from the monotony of text book mugging.
The library is centrally computerized and has internet and photocopying facilities. The students can also use the facilities of main hospital library as well as the university library with special permission from the principal.
The library of Choithram College of Nursing provides its readers all of the above. There are about three thousand books. Around twenty Indian and ten foreign journals are subscribed for the library. The books and journals and periodicals are not only related to nursing but to myriad of subjects that the students and faculty need to prepare their assignments and projects.
The reading rooms are properly lighted and well ventilated with comfortable seating arrangements.There is a full time qualified librarian and her assistants to facilitate the students in using the library facilities. The library remains open from 9 a. m. to 9 p. m.
Transport
Choithram College of Nursing is having Two College buses. Choithram School looks after all the transportation of all its branches. They have appointed two drivers and two cleaners for buses.
All the two buses are provided to college for outreach programs. Daily schedules are made by college Faculty Incharge.
Choithram College of Nursing has been organizing different type of Curricular and Extra-curricular activities in the college and outside also like clinical posting at different hospitals, Rural and Urban Posting of M.Sc & B.Sc Nursing students, Camps at different places, National Health Programs, National Service Scheme camp (NSS), Visits – NGOs, Old age homes, Orphanage, Mentally retarded Children’s home.
We are using bus for Different Programs arranged by University like Youth Festival, Examination work, sending off students to their examination center, programs collaborated with other institutions, etc.
Hostel & Mess
Our college provides hostel and mess facilities for students with comfortable and secure accommodation . The hostel complex houses a mess where hygienic and nutritious food is served to the students in a homely atmosphere. Students have to abide by the rules and regulations prescribed by the authorities and are expected to help in creating a home like atmosphere. We have provided a T.V. for students entertainment.
