Post Matric Scholarship for Minorities Students

The Government of India has implemented the welfare of minorities a Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, announced in June 2006. The motive of this scheme is to find deserving students who are economically weaker, provide them with good opportunities in higher education, and increase their rate of attainment in higher education and rate of employability. Students who study in India in Government or private schools, colleges or universities, or any residential institutes eligible for government or union territory administration can follow this scholarship. Students who study XI or XII and any vocational or polytechnic courses do not qualify for scholarships. Also, students who undergo certificate courses do not qualify for these scholarships. However, students who study less than one-year of courses do not qualify for these scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded for each student who scores more than 50% from their previous examinations and by considering the parents annual income not exceeding more than 2 lakh. The distribution of scholarship is done for Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis), who the Government notifies of India to get the scholarship amount. The individuals qualified to get the scholarship can get accordingly should be in the form of fresh scholarship as per the criteria of their deserving marks in previous examinations and by considering their parent/guardian annual income certificate. The government of India is allotted fresh scholarships for the minority quota as per their criteria. And the renewal scholarship is said to be given to students who are eligible if and only the students who attain 50% or more than of marks in their previous year examination are eligible of getting sufficient amount as scholarships. Or else it is that it is not given in terms of merit list or the government shall not maintain a merit list.

The scholarship shall be given every academic year as a lump sum to the individual account linked with the institute.
