About Us
Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences offers quality education in Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). The college has state of the art infrastructure and highly dedicated faculty. It is located in Vydehi’s main campus, in Bangalore. Established in 2001, it is approved by Dental Council of India, Government of India and, affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.The 4-year BDS course and 3 year MDS course provides students with ample opportunities in the field of oral healthcare. Students are made to be thorough with the concepts of general health sciences, develop high levels of professionalism, and acquainted with logical reasoning and critical decision making skills that would help them to make a brilliant and prosperous career in the dental field. In the first year of the BDS course students would be exposed to extensive lectures, laboratory activities, and basic clinical activities in medical sciences, general anatomy, physiology etc. The curriculum for the second year helps the students to further develop their preclinical skills. The third and fourth year curriculum gives the final shape to the students when they provide clinical treatment, attend specific lectures, and get accustomed with general hospital postings. Students hands on experience in treating patients and get the opportunity to gather experience in all the fields of dentistry.The college has post-graduation in nine subjects (Oral Medicine and Radiology, Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Pedodontics, Conservative and Endodontics, Public Health Dentistry and Oral Pathology). All the departments are well equipped with latest and advanced instruments, journals and books. Students are exposed to wide variety of clinical cases and at the end of three years, they are experts in their subject with at most knowledge, clinical experience and confidence that helps them to make difference in community health and being own boss and own a dental practice. Postgraduate students are trained and encouraged to present papers and journals on both national and international platforms. The students are exposed to diverse nature of clinical cases with various maxillofacial pathologies helping the students to acquaint themselves on management of such challenging situations.The college conducts regular conferences, CDE programmes, competitions, clinical meets where both national and international speakers are invited, allowing students to gain tremendous knowledge. At Vydehi, research has been the foremost priority allowing the students to explore their interest in various fields.
