Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NGSMIPS) established in 1983, is recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India and the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. The college is ranked 49th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2019 by MHRD, GoI.The Institution has made rapid progress towards being recognized as a Pharmacy school with high academic standards, delivering quality health care with an emphasis on promoting social responsibility in its students. About Principal
Prof. (Dr.) Marina Koland has worked as a teaching faculty at NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Science for 30 years and has engaged in research and guiding PG students in Pharmaceutics for 27 years. She has also guided 7 candidates so far in their Ph.D dissertations. She has completed 4 research projects funded by the Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangalore and is currently working on the fifth.

Eligibility Criteria
Pass in Class 12 with not less than 45% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology with English as one of the languages of study. The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission. Pass in B Pharm with 50% marks from an institution approved by the PCI. The candidate shall be admitted to IV year of the PharmD program.

Justice K S Hegde
Founder
Born in Kowdoor village on June 11, 1909, Kowdoor Sadananda Hegde had his early education at Karkala and Mangaluru. Thereafter, he obtained a degree in Economics from the Presidency College in Madras and a degree in Law from the Government Law College, Madras. He began his legal practice at Karkala in 1936 and later moved to Mangaluru, where he was appointed as the Public Prosecutor of South Canara district in 1948. He was an elected Member of the First Council of States (now known as the Rajya Sabha). In 1954, he represented India at the General Assembly of the United Nations. He then, became a Judge of the Mysore High Court. In 1966, he was appointed the first Chief Justice of the Delhi and Himachal Pradesh High Court. He held this office till he was elevated to the post of Judge of Supreme Court of India in 1967. A man of integrity and strong values, Justice K S Hegde resigned from the post of Chief Justice in 1973, in protest against the supersession of senior judges in the appointment of the Chief Justice of India. In 1977, he won the election to the Lok Sabha and was elected as the Speaker of Lok Sabha, an office he held till 1980. After a distinguished career, he retired from public life and settled at Nitte, only to relentlessly work for the upliftment and empowerment of the rural people. Justice K S Hegde passed away on May 25, 1990.

Freshers’ Day Celebration and Inauguration of the Student Council 2025-2026 04-09-2025
The Freshers’ Day Celebration and Inauguration of the Student Council 2025-2026 of NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences was held on 4th September 2025 at KS Hegde Auditorium. The program commenced with an invocation prayer by Ms. Neethal Lobo and Ms. Tanisha T. R, followed by a graceful welcome dance presented by Ms. Ila Kodical. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the beginning of a new journey.
Intensive Hands-On Training 21-08-2025
NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NGSMIPS), organized a two-day workshop on “Mastering HPLC: Intensive Hands-On Training” on 21st & 22nd August 2025 to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography. Prof. (Dr.) C.S. Shastry, Director (Research & Strategic Initiatives), NGSMIPS, was the Chief Guest. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Marina Koland delivered the welcome address
